I'd like to apologize for my absence. The beginning and end of the year are always times of introspection, and with that comes the inevitable disappointment of thinking about what could have been. However, 2024 marked a turning point—a huge risk was taken, and against all odds, it paid off. The impact was so profound that, for a moment, it felt like I had crossed into another dimension.
That payoff led to exponential personal growth—a transformation of sorts, like emerging from a cocoon twice as big and five times more powerful. With that growth comes a renewed sense of purpose for the Substack arm. There is a lot I want to do, and this is just the beginning.
This is the first in a series of weekly Sunday updates. Consider it a signal.
It's only February, and the aviation world has already seen several major incidents. I typically don't cover these, as I don't feel equipped to do them the justice they deserve. Fortunately, I know where to find people who are, and I've linked their excellent analyses below.
If you would like to follow the NTSB investigations, you can here:

FR24 - PSA Airlines CRJ-700 collides with US military helicopter in Washington DC
Here is a very in depth thread following the incident at KDCA as it unfolded.
KPNE Incident
In some slightly more interesting news, one of the Northern Gatekeepers, 02-4452, took its first overseas trip of the year as VOLVO27. Feeling a bit nostalgic for when I used to live-tweet their trips I decided to cover the trip in a tweet thread.
The thread kind of blew up.
As you can see below, it’s currently sitting at 23k views at the time of writing. It did so well that it almost single-handedly brought me to over 1,000 followers.
Anyway, enough bragging, I’m still sorting out exactly what it was doing over there as I write this. But by the time you see this the thread will (probably) be complete.
Cheers,
JANN
